Rudy Martinez-Rodriguez loves to teach golf. He became a USGTF Level
III member in 1996 and gained his Level IV certification the following year. He
resides in Puerto Rico and is currently president of the Puerto Rico Golf Teachers
Federation, as well as the president of the Puerto Rico Federation of Professional
Golfers.
Rudy is a member of the Department of Sports and Recreation and National
Olympic Committee, and therefore is solely responsible for naming the National
Olympic Golf Team to represent Puerto Rico in the upcoming Olympics in 2016
in Brazil.
One of the things that Rudy is most proud of is the creation of a disadvantaged
youth program for Hispanics in central Florida. He, along with other USGTF members, provide free clinics to disadvantaged youth at Remington Golf
Course in Orlando. According to Rudy, “I want the Hispanic population and kids
from all over the world to learn about golf and the spirit of the game.” Rudy
often uses the quote from his famous uncle, Chi Chi Rodriguez: “No man could
ever stand as tall as the man that stoops to help a child.”
